It’s estimated that 30 million people have a thyroid disorder of some kind. Many people suffer from an under active thyroid, known as hypothyroidism, while others suffer from an overactive thyroid disorder, or hyperthyroidism. Both can be detrimental to one’s health and cause a host of other health issues to occur as a result.

Hypothyroidism is most common, especially in women. It can lead to weight gain, a slowed metabolism, low energy, depression, digestion upset, mood problems, joint pain, poor memory, muscle stiffness, headaches, and more. It often leads to autoimmune disease disorders known as Hashimoto’s and Graves disease due to the way the thyroid affects all major parts of the body. Hypothyroidism can cause anxious-like energy, problems gaining weight, higher body temperatures, trouble sleeping, and overactive digestion.

Christina Miller, MD, FACEP, is double board-certified in emergency and integrative medicine.  After spending ten years working in the emergency department, she radically changed her practice to health promotion, due to her own health concerns and being overwhelmed by the amount of chronic disease and illness seen in the ED.  She studied nutritional science and plant-based nutrition, completed a fellowship in integrative medicine, and now focuses exclusively on nutrition and lifestyle changes to get to the root cause of disease and illness, while promoting wellness and longevity in each individual.  Instead of treating emergencies in the ED, she is now helping to prevent and reverse chronic illnesses and empower people to live with vitality. 

She is now proud to be part of the Plantbasedtelehealth.com team, offering plant-based telemedicine services to patients across the country. Her goal is to continue to share the information and the resources necessary to help empower people to take back their health, prevent and even reverse chronic illness, and create long-lasting true health and vitality.
