Greenings Green Warrior! If you are struggling with weight loss, here are some tips that could help.
Whether your scale just moved up a few pounds, not down enough or you are complaining about a weight loss plateau, consider this:
When you step on the scale, are you sure you are not wearing shoes or a heavy coat?
The answer seems obvious. Of course, if you are hoping to see weight loss, you would remove any item of clothing which you felt would add pounds to the scale.
Are you just as diligent about what you eat? As I coach people who want to achieve weight loss, I have found that there are roadblocks which can be removed or avoided.
We sometimes kid ourselves into thinking that this “little bit” won’t hurt. If that was the case, we would be at our weight loss goal!
Some of my clients found that they have not completely eliminated oil from their lifestyle? They don’t cook with oil yet during our consultation they will tell me that they occasionally eat at a restaurant. I teach them that even a healthy menu choice probably contains an extra 400 calories (of oil).
Some of my clients include nuts and seeds in their diet. When we talk about this I remind them that a handful of unsalted nuts they snacked on has about 250 calories.
Other clients like to snack on a bowl of air popped popcorn. They are shocked when I tell them that plain, air popped popcorn is 1800 of dissolving calories a pound.
As we dig deeper into the causes of a plateau, I remind my clients who are still on prescription medications that these can cause weight gain or stalling of weight loss. Of course I am not advising that anyone reduce or stop taking prescription medication without working with their physician. If they stay 100% compliant it is very possible to eliminate the need for prescription medication. I tell my clients to keep a journal of their glucose and blood pressure readings (where applicable). This journal should be shared with your physician who will help you to wean off medications.
There are so many factors that go into successful weight loss. I have coached many people to lose weight and successfully keep it off. For some, they need an accountability partner. Many of my clients text me daily with pictures of their meals so that I can help them to stay accountable and tweak what they are eating to get the most benefit out of each meal.
Remember, it is not just about the pounds. Take in the fact that you have stuck with this lifestyle! So far, you have lost weight, proving that your efforts were worthwhile. Keep in mind you will stall or even go up at times but don’t give up, just stay with this and if you do as directed, it will work.
Let’s set up a discovery phone or Zoom call to see if you would benefit from a few coaching sessions with me. It may be just what you need to break through that plateau!

I was just going to post on plateaus! I like that you point out that, as frustrating as it is, we should be grateful for the weight we’ve lost (especially if we’ve reached a healthy weight). And that’s so true about the oil when we eat out. Even Chipotle puts a little oil in their brown rice.
Until recently, Chipotle cooked there beens in pork broth.
Their. Beans.
🤷🏼♀️ Just sayin.
thanks for that information! Thanks for reading. Be Strong, Be Well and Be Green!
