It is important to me to keep waste out of the landfills. I make vegetable broth with my vegetable scraps and have been composting the remaining scraps on my kitchen counter in this Compost Bin

There have been times when I did not empty the compost bin in time and the contents would begin to break down and create an odor. Like many people, my life can get busy. Even the simple act of taking the contents of my compost bin to the garden can get put off for a later time. After a few days, the compost bin contents begin to emit an odor.

I decided to try the Vitamix FoodCycler

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use. It solved my procrastinating problem. I simply put the food scraps in the bin, place it in the composter machine, put the lid on, push a button and walk away!

The FoodCycler has a carbon filter lid which was designed to eliminate odor, so you can store your scraps until the bucket is full. The description says that the FoodCycler breaks down food waste into a tenth of its original volume and creates a nutrient-rich fertilizer you can mix into your soil.”

The machine runs for about 5 hours and the noise is a soft hum with periodically, soft grinding noise. You can keep the container on your countertop and the machine elsewhere. I decided to keep my original compost container on my countertop while the FoodCycler container is stored in the FoodCycler.

Check out my video so you can see how convenient and easy the FoodCycler is to use.
