As I discussed in my blog about Apples – Keep Them Fresher, Longer , citrus juice can be squirted on a sliced apple to keep it from oxidizing and turning brown.
One of our readers said that her daughter did not care for the taste of citrus on her sliced apple.
Here is a tip to transport a sliced apple and keep it from turning brown, without using citrus!
Use an apple slicer to slice the apple.
Remove apple slicer from apple.
Keep the core inside of the apple slices.
Your apple will look like a whole apple.
Wrap the sliced apple in saran wrap or a small ziploc bag and remove excess air.
This helps prevent the apple from oxidizing.
When you are ready to eat the it, unwrap the apple and enjoy the easy to eat sliced apple which will not be brown!
