Meet Others: Socialize with like minded people so you don’t lose your mind.

Meetup Group Shot March 2018

Socializing while maintaining this lifestyle can sometimes be a challenge. Meeting with other, like minded people, can really give you a boost.

There are a few ways to find people in your area.

Join a Meetup to socialize with others, in your area who eat a whole food, plant based diet.

Today I will discuss Meetups.

Meetup is an online social networking portal which allows members to find and join groups unified by a common interest, including whole food, plant based lifestyles.

Simply go to https://www.meetup.com/ and enter your city or zip code. Then, tag a topic like Vegan, Eat to Live, The principles of a plant based diet, Dr. Esselstyn no oil, Plant Based Nutrition, Dr. Fuhrman, Whole Food Nutrition, Vegan Potlucks and Dineouts, Forks Over Knives, Whole Food Plant Based Diet, etc.

The website/app helps you to locate a group to arrange a place and time to meet.

The service is free of charge to individuals who log in as members.

If there is not a Meetup in your area, consider creating one.

It currently costs $9.99/month for their basic plan, which includes a maximum of 4 organizers and maximum of 50 members. Try it for a month or two and see how it goes.

If you need advice on organizing a group, I would love to help you.

Being a part of a group gives you lots of positive external feedback.

When you are part of the group, you get great feelings thats you are on the right track and doing very positive things. When you are a member of the group it is very nice to share the same values about who it is that you are in your commitment to eating healthfully. Your identity as living healthfully is shared by everyone around you. This is how we get good esteem signals. It is a great feeling when you get positive feedback from others. Just the fact that you are there is a sign of your commitment. Getting respect from other people, because you’re surrounded by it, is a great feeling.
