Flour things like cakes, cookies, pies, etc. are the bad carbs. So many people tell us to avoid carbs, but fruits and vegetables are whole food, plant based, healthy carbs.
The bad carbs are the refined carbs like flour. Flour is what remains after stripping things like a wheat berry of the water and fiber. What remains is a concentrated, calorie dense powder which can cause things like weight gain and Type II Diabetes.
When you concentrate foods and strip out the water, fiber and nutrients, you have a dangerous component remaining. It will cause you to have a big dopamine hit in your brain, which is why things like cakes, cookies, pies, etc. are so hard to resist.
We are continuously adding recipes for foods that are great substitutes. Using things like oat flour ,made from grinding oats in your food processor, can be a healthier choice.
Check out the recipe page for great ideas, some of which are easy and quick to prepare.
